Something we are getting more and more photography and video calls for are from boat owners who want us to capture them having fun on their boats. It's a real kick for everyone and the possibilities are endless for what we can do. Just for starters, for a minimum 1-hour charge we can come down to the water and shoot you sailing by. That's easy. It's also very affordable. We can turn the photos over to you to process. Or we can do all of that for you with our professional touch and equipment. In many instances, our clients want a turn key situation. For instance this couple wanted one very large photo for them to hang in their living room at home and one for the office, to remind them of their sailing time in San Diego! We have also had people want to get videos of them out for a day on the water. While this is a little more complicated than just a sail-by, it can be a lot of fun and the results are wonderful. All of this type of work does double duty too. When it comes Continue Reading
Getting the Right Shot
San Diego is a great location for yacht photography! It's very simple to put the spectacular city skyline in the background of the shot and the flat water of the bay creates ideal conditions for power or sailing yachts to look good. In fact, I find the photography part easy and fun! It's the logistics that can get tricky. Especially if you get several moving pieces to deal with. For instance, an international development company hired me to photograph their luxury yacht that is based here in San Diego as an amenity for buyers of their real estate project here. They needed to hire a Captain to command the 45' water craft. I needed to coordinate a chase boat for me to be able to shoot the yacht from the water. The marketing team based in another city had to be here to direct the shoot (which they did with aplomb!) The best time to get "hero" type on-the-water photos of a yacht are either in the morning or sunset. The chase boat was not available in the evening. So, I chose the Continue Reading
The Arabella Project
I've had a great relationship with the American Sailing Association for a long time. First, as a sailing club owner, whose sailing school taught their curriculum, introducing countless numbers of people to the sport. Then, as an internet marketing consultant, where we propelled them from relative obscurity into the limelight. Now, for more than a year, I have been a contract photographer for them, supplying images to use in their social media outreach. A few years ago, the ASA contracted with the owner of the Arabella sailing yacht to offer experiences in New England and the BVI. I jumped at the chance to get a single berth on her in the summer of 2015 to relive my childhood sailing memories. Arabella was to sail the cruising grounds my grandfather and I did through the New England islands many times in my youth. I got hooked badly by this girl, Arabella. As luck would have it, the ASA needed an onboard liaison for two of their trips in the winter of 2016 to that other place I Continue Reading
Creative Real Estate Photography
If you need creative real estate photography in San Diego County, we hope you will consider our services. We can combine a variety of pieces for you to use. Today, it isn't enough to take a few snapshots and post them to the MLS. To get the best price for a property you need professional imagery. We can create a complete portfolio for you to use at a very affordable rate. Townhomes, condos, apartments and single family homes all need good imagery when it comes time to go up for sale. The first step for most real estate brokers is to set up an MLS listing with a good variety of photographs to portray the property for sale. These listings get distributed widely through online destinations like Zillow, Realtor.com. But today, just setting up an MLS listing might be only the first step. It depends on whether the Broker would like to work towards selling the property themselves. In that case, we recommend some video work and possibly some cinemagraphs as well. These "moving Continue Reading
