When I went to Cuba recently, I took over 5000 still photos! In between I shot time lapse and video too. Not as much as I wished but a decent variety. As I spent my time there, talking with the people and shooting more street photography than I ever had before, it struck me. I wanted to turn some of my still images into a portion of the documentary and frame the entire story around "Faces of Cuba." One night, while processing the images, I came up with an idea for one way to present the portrait type photos of the people of Cuba. I mounted them on boards and then set up a studio shoot where I dropped them and filmed the drop. I practiced for two weekends and am pretty happy with the test. I will need more control when I do it again. But now I know what i did wrong! One of the best ways I have found to incentivize myself to get things done is to publicly proclaim my goal.
